Placemaking Art Mini-Grant Pilot Program

In an effort to involve the community with the Downtown Placemaking Investment Strategy Project activities, a mini grant program has been developed in partnership with the Library Culture and Arts Commission (LCAC). The Mini Grant program offered small grants of $500 to $10,000 for artists and community groups interested in engaging with our Downtown in a creative manner.

Goals of the Mini Grant Program are:

  • To enliven downtown public spaces with visual arts
  • Promote arts and culture within the community, making Downtown the community’s playground
  • To create excitement and engagement that will help the promote downtown as a fun and active zone during construction

The projects were intended to be temporary art and placemaking projects and were expected to be displayed from March 1st to September 1, 2015. Some pieces, however, are now being considered for permanent installation.

Take a look at the placemaking projects proposed to city council on January 21, 2015.
