2017 City Manager Recruitment
Morgan Hill's City Manager, Steve Rymer, was recently appointed as the next City Administrator for Rochester, Minnesota. Mr. Rymer provided the City Council with his formal resignation on August 1, 2017. His last day of service to the Morgan Hill community will be September 30, 2017.
Upon receiving Mr. Rymer's resignation, the Morgan Hill City Council made the decision to start an immediate internal recruitment for the next City Manager. Press Release
The City Council solicited the community and City teammates for input on what is needed in the next City Manager of Morgan Hill through a survey which closed on August 13, 2017. View the 2017 City Manager Recruitment Process Community Survey Input.
On August 16, 2017 the City Council reviewed all input provided by the community and City teammates on what the City Council should be looking for in the next City Manager. At the same meeting, the City Council also reviewed all applications received for the City Manager position and chose the finalists. The following members of the City Leadership Team have been selected as finalists:
- Chris Ghione, Community Services Director
- Edith Ramirez, Economic Development Director
- David Swing, Police Chief
- Christina Turner, Assistant City Manager - Administrative Services
Each finalist participated in an interview process on September 6, 2017.
On September 7, 2017 it was announced that Christina Turner would be appointed as the next City Manager at the City Council meeting on September 27, 2017. Press Release
