Morgan Hill a "friendly" little town? You can't tell by the speeding drivers! I would like to see the city promote "A Care For Your Neighbors and Town" communications program that will find several ways to get people to slow down, watch for pedestrians, bicyclists, children and seniors. We have a Community full of agressive drivers and something needs to be done. Recently I have seen near misses where a driver turning right have almost hit pedestrians crossing at a corner, also a driver turned right onto Dunne without stopping, and speeders in parking lots. Oh, I saw a car that had stopped at a red light waiting to turn right and a second reckless car went around him on the left side and made the right turn around him!!! BE MORE CARING - IT'S OUR TOWN, OUR PRECIOUS PEOPLE. Everyone wants to keep our sleepy little town feel - then act like it and slow down! Before someone is seriously injured.

Table or Kill the Proposed Gun Ban Ordinances.
The current gun ban ordinance has provisions for a mandatory reporting requirement for lost or stolen guns that has been rescinded or pulled from existing or proposed ordinances in Palm Springs and Saratoga. The City Council, for the Nov. 28 meeting, may want to pull this from the agenda before the meeting starts for subsequent review. Also see:
https://www.crpa.org/crpa-news/victory-on-local-ordinance-issues/
Also, Saratoga City Councilman Howard Miller was claiming "overwhelming support" for Saratoga's proposed mandatory storage ordinance in the thousands. When put to a vote on Next Door, the results were actually 51% Against, 44% For and 3% saying to table until next year. So if Morgan Hill is anything like Saratoga when it comes to guns and public safety, there is also likely negative support for for this ordinance proposal here as well.

Not only are universities around the nation aligning with the movement to ban plastic straws, but cities are too... why isn't Morgan Hill one of them? We all know that plastic is an environment no no, but with straws being so interwoven into people's lifestyles, as plastic bags once were, it's time we force corporations to find eco-friendly alternatives because there are plenty out there. I think it would be great if the city could build a pedestrian/bicycle bridge over 101 at either San Pedro or Barrett Ave to allow better access from both sides of town to the facilities such as the aquatic center, soccer fields and CRC, this would promote walking and biking and also help the youth that do not have cars. Crossing 101 at Tennent, E Dunne and Cochrane by foot or bike is both unpleasant and dangerous, Main street crosses without highway access but is really far from the facilities listed above if walking.

I am enjoying the commercial growth of MH but not the recent super residential housing growth. When we moved here in 1998 we were told MH has a 1% growth cap on new housing development. This was great because it kept existing housing prices up. It is obviously not the case anymore.I do not want to turn into Gilroy with their out of control developments. The last few years there has been an excessive boom of housing development that must slow down!! Everywhere you look an apartment building or a new housing development is being built. You look up in the East Hills and you are starting to see a massive houses being built on all the smaller hills. These are putting a strain on our resources like water and land let alone our school system. I think we need to go back to putting a yearly cap on residential housing growth.
