The City of Morgan Hill is working on a policy for Downtown Special Events and Street Closures. The Community Services Department presented a draft policy to the City Council on June 21, 2017. The City Council chose not to move forward with the policy, as written, and instructed City staff to do more work on the policy. The policy revision will be presented to City Council in the Fall of 2017.
Chapter 12.16 of the Morgan Hill Municipal Code, Events on Public Property, outlines requirements for special events and the associated permit process. The primary purpose of this policy is to provide guidance to staff in the issuance of special event permits that close streets in Downtown Morgan Hill.
It is proposed that the policy will cover items such as attendance level requirements, traffic considerations, the downtown parking structure and the use of Third Street, specifically.
